I have played alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, as well as the 5 and 4 string banjo. I am thinking about learning how to play the ocarina, and I was wondering if a hardwood or warmstone ocarina is a good one to learn on, as I have heard they are good ocarinas anyway. If they are not, I was wondering if anyone had any preferences to a good ocarina to learn on. Thank you for your time. Link to mountain ocarinas, in case anybody wondering. www.mountainsocarina.com/ocarinas1c.htm

Many people seem to like Mountain Ocarinas. The material is mostly a matter of taste and appearance. All of them are plastic on the inside. Here is a YouTube link of a saxophonist who has taken up playing Mountain Ocarinas very well: www.youtube.com/user/ubizmo

I really like the accessibility of the Mountain ocarinas. The fingering is intuitive, they are comfortable, indestructable, and very portable. As a fellow saxophone player I like a little more range. I am playing a 12 hole sweet potato which gives 1 1/2 octaves. i am looking forward to getting my plastic triple which offers three octaves so I can play most anything!
